iThemba LABS, a National Research Facility administered by the National Research Foundation (NRF), is committed to unleashing South African potential through knowledge creation, innovation, training, and development (NRF motto: advancing knowledge, transforming lives).
Through the division for Communication, Information, and Science Engagement (CISE), iThemba LABS promotes awareness and appreciation of science amongst the public and educators and learners in both primary and secondary schools through interactive workshops, webinars, science shows, and science information sharing events, such as outreach tours and science festivals.
The science engagement team at iThemba LABS would like to invite science educators to attend one of two non-specialist talks and networking sessions at iThemba LABS as part of the National Science Week 2022 interventions. During National Science Week, iThemba LABS seeks to promote the science linked to accelerator-based research for sustainable development. Each of the sessions will see one of the iThemba LABS researchers give a presentation on the use of accelerated particle beams in materials research. The session will be followed by a short tour of the materials research laboratory, concluding the day with a networking session at our visitors' centre.
