DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce that iThemba LABS will be hosting t
 he joint 28th Ion Beam Analysis and 19th Particle Induced X-ray Emission I
 nternational Conference (IBA-PIXE 2027) from the 4th to the 8th of October
  2027.\n\nThe inaugural IBA Conference was held in June 1973 at IBM Resear
 ch Laboratories in Yorktown Heights\, New York\, USA\, while the first PIX
 E Conference took place in 1976 in Lund\, Sweden. In recent years\, the re
 spective scientific communities have merged these events into joint confer
 ences due to the strong overlap and complementary nature of the techniques
 .\n\nThe conference brings together participants from academia\, research 
 institutions\, and industry\, providing a platform to:\n\n\n	\n	Share adva
 ncements in ion-beam analytical methods\n	\n	\n	Develop new approaches for
  quantitative material analysis\n	\n	\n	Enhance understanding of fundament
 al phenomena\n	\n	\n	Explore applications ranging from cultural heritage s
 tudies to advanced technologies\n	\n\n\nThe expected attendance for IBA–
 PIXE 2027 is approximately 250 delegates. The programme will include oral 
 and poster presentations. The conference will host prominent scientists an
 d researchers from leading institutions globally\, including South Africa 
 and the wider African continent. Research outputs from the conference will
  be published in the Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research B
  conference proceedings.\n\nConference organisation will be led by a Local
  Organising Committee (LOC) in consultation with the International Advisor
 y Committee (IAC).\n\nA site visit to iThemba LABS is also planned during 
 the Conference.\n\nWe look forward to seeing you all in South Africa.\n\nh
