“Nuclear & Renewable Energy: Research & Human Capital Development Imperatives for South Africa” CALL FOR ABSTRACTS By Students CLOSING DATES: Submission of Abstracts – 21 June 2013 Submission of Presentations – 26 July 2013 Technical Structure The Energy Postgraduate Conference (EPC 2013) will cover aspects of both nuclear and renewable energy-related research conducted in academia and industry. Each session will follow and approach where an eminent expert will set the scene for a research area, followed by presentations in parallel sessions focusing on specialised area. The following broad themes in the Nuclear and Renewable Energy will be covered, together with affected general topics. Specific focus with each theme will be captured in the final program. Energy Related Themes A) Nuclear I Material II Nanotechnology B) Renewable I Solar Photovoltaic II Concentrating Solar Power III Wind IV Hydro V Biofuels VI Ocean (tidal and wave) C) Human Capital Development D) General • Policy • Finance • Strategy • Environment • Systems modeling and analysis The deadline for abstract submission is 21 June 2013. The EPC 2013 Adjudication Panel (EPC-AP) will make the final decisions on the acceptance of abstracts. Abstracts will be published in the EPC2013 Book of Abstracts to be made available as part of the conference package at the conference. INSTRUCTIONS FOR POSTERS All the posters will be installed during the first day of the EPC 2013 (Sunday, 11 August 2013). It is recommended that a poster should not be smaller than A1 (594x840mm) but that the maximum be A0 Portrait size format (ISO 216) dimensions: 850mm x 1200mm maximum. ORAL PRESENTATIONS Oral presentations should be 20 minutes (15 minutes plus 5 for questions). Please limit the length of the abstract to a maximum of 500 words.
