Description

In this work, we developed a new Glauber model based on the nucleon-nucleon cross sections calculated within the KMR/SHRiMPS model as implemented in the SHERPA event generator. These cross sections arise from a well-motivated phenomenological calculation from which a non-trivial impact parameter emerges naturally, without any ad-hoc assumptions. In Eur. Phys. J. C 86, 63 (2026), it was shown that this characteristic of the cross section is responsible for the appearance of large anisotropies in the spacial distribution of participating nucleons in p+Pb collisions compared to other commonly used models. Now we extend this model to A+A collisions and explore its consequences on the anisotropies and number of participating nucleons across different system configurations.
